Luca De Angelis is a Melbourne-based visual artist, originally from Novara, Italy (b. 1983).

After acquiring his first camera in 2021, Luca began forming a range of photography-based series. He works primarily in public spaces, responding fluidly to found subjects and situations, avoiding any intervention in a strict documentary photography tradition. Common themes include the relationship between the individual and the environment, social isolation and alienation, humour and the grotesque, studies on human perception, and more broadly documenting our era.

Luca's artistic method blends a deeply intimate style with precise composition, engaging with the photographic medium in a way reminiscent of traditional painting techniques. Each project and series are marked by their own distinctive visual language.

As his work continues to evolve artistically, there remains a dedication to a signature aesthetic and ongoing contribution to the contemporary visual artistic landscape.

EDUCATION

BSc (Hons) in Digital Technology, Design, and Innovation at the Technological University Dublin.

Trained in graphic design, digital and interactive media.
